A Season of New

Isn't it exciting when you do something for the first time, or maybe its just the first day of a new month and you feel excited to begin anew with renewed passion for life and excitement for what is to come! Or maybe your the person who finds the beginning to be nothing but uncertainty, as you fall into this trap of fear that is centered around circumstances and the "what if's" of life. What is it about this word beginning that makes us so uncertain, so fearful? Is it because there is so much at stake? Is it because what happens in those first moments will be something we have to live with for the rest of our lives? Isn't this true in everything though? Do we not have to live with our decisions and circumstances no matter if it is the beginning, middle, or the end of a moment, minute, day, month or year? So what is it that makes us so uncertain?

Let us think about some beginnings that make us excited or bring joy. Maybe it is your first car, or the day you got your drivers license and experienced freedom and responsibility, the day you got your 1st pet, when you started college, the day you became a Christian, the day you turned 18, the first day of school, the day you got baptized, the first birthday you can remember, your first date, the first time you rode a bike on your own, or maybe even your first computer. The beginning has such potential for joy but as the quote goes "one mans junk is another mans treasure" so also is "one mans joy is another mans sorrow". Maybe you looked forward to your first day of school every year because you loved your teachers and enjoyed doing school but your best friend dreaded it because she struggled and all the kids picked on her and said she was dumb. Is it your fault you were good in school and your teachers were proud of you? NO. Is it your friends fault that she struggled in school and she got picked on? NO. Just because two people do their best in a subject it doesn't mean they will both receive the same grade. Is this not true in life as well? God is our teacher and life is our subject. We work our hardest and do our best with the life we have been blessed with. No ones life is the same as we are not cookie cutter people. Some may struggle with a certain area of life more than another person. Does that make one better than the other? No. I believe that if we take this mindset with us and live one day at a time doing the best we can, seeking after God instead of living in the fear and uncertainty of what is to come then we can enjoy and be blessed by each new season of our life enjoying from the beginning to the end of each journey we face. Let us reach toward this goal to live life to the fullest!

Colossians 3:23-24
"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men,  knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ."

On November 1st we got our first snow up her in Northern Kentucky. It was not much but enough to have to break out the scraper! I was glad that it did not stick around very long! I am not a winter person and enjoy my fall days for as long as I can have them! Here are a few pictures from that cold snowy morning!

As I am sure many are aware that yesterday was Election Day and many of us made our way to vote and have our voice heard! Well I am happy to announce that after so many years of having to watch everyone else have so much fun ;) I finally got to vote for the first time not only in my life but also as a Kentucky resident! For those of you who have been doing this for many years I hope you are still able to enjoy the privilege and opportunity to have your voice heard as so many do not! I pray we never take advantage of this great privilege! Here is a picture of Mateo and I after voting!

Until next time,
Elizabeth Rose
